Welcome to last quarterly issue of the West Virginia 811 magazine for 2020! The theme of this issue is teamwork. And in this industry, teamwork is essential to protect our communities and our underground infrastructure. Here in West Virginia, we’ve established our goal of digging safely. Now it is a matter of focus on what we need to do to make that happen. Obviously, it begins by calling 811 before you dig, waiting the appropriate time for the work site to be located, make sure all the utilities on the ticket has responded, then dig with care.
The teamwork concept includes communicating with one another about unplanned changes or obstacles out in the field. The enforcement process is also part of the communication and accountability efforts to ensure continuity and safety for all our citizens. =
I want to thank the supporters of the magazine. Your continued support through advertising allows us to reach our members and callers with valuable information as it regards the law and just safe digging practices. Thanks for your confidence in us. If you haven’t yet decided to support our efforts in the magazine, now might be a good time to reconsider. A great way to reach this audience is to become an advertiser or supporter of our magazine. We hope you will consider including support for our damage prevention efforts in your next budget cycle.
Enforcement articles and updates will be included in each issue of the West Virginia 811 Magazine. The purpose of the magazine is to keep our industry professionals aware of 811 issues not only in the state but across the nation. But especially, those who work in our state need to be aware of issues that impact them.
Dig safely!
